This includes extensive experience with both self-funded and fully insured products and services. This dynamic team leads by example and is uniquely qualified to provide health care solutions that meet or exceed client needs.

CNIC's Executive Team

Jim Swayze
President and CEO

Mr. Swayze is President and Chief Executive Officer of CNIC Health Solutions. He has played an instrumental role in the CNIC organization since 2004, when CNIC became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP), and Mr. Swayze became a member of the CNIC Board of Directors. He became the President and CEO of CNIC in May 2007. Mr. Swayze also continues in his role as a Vice President of RMHP, a position he has held since 2001.

With more than 25 years of both self-funded and fully-insured health care experience, Mr. Swayze brings to CNIC extensive leadership capabilities and the ability to develop strong and positive working relationships with employers, brokers and providers. He also brings strategic planning and management skills, innovative marketing strategies and an aptitude for developing new products.

Prior to joining RMHP, Mr. Swayze was employed by PacifiCare and its predecessor organizations for 15 years. He held progressively responsible sales and marketing positions, including Vice President.

Mr. Swayze holds a Bachelor's Degree from Ursinus College, where he majored in Economics and Business Administration. In addition to supporting numerous philanthropic causes, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Denver Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. Mr. Swayze is an active member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. He also participates in the University of Denver Daniels College of Business Executive Mentor program, helping to develop graduate students.


Vicki Espinoza
Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Espinoza has served as the Chief Financial Officer of CNIC Health Solutions since 2001. Ms. Espinoza reengineered the accounting department at that time, bringing strong internal controls, effective financial reporting and large-scale banking initiatives to the organization. She currently oversees the accounting, finance, billing and eligibility, excess loss, premium administration and funding areas of the organization.

Prior to joining CNIC, Ms. Espinoza was the Controller of MMA, a Colorado provider network, for three years. Prior to joining MMA, Ms. Espinoza was a Finance Manager for PacifiCare Health System's Central Region for ten years. Prior to joining PacifiCare, Ms. Espinoza supervised audits for a national accounting firm.

Ms. Espinoza obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, summa cum laude, from the University of Denver. Ms. Espinoza is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.


Angela Moore
Chief Operating Officer

Ms. Moore is the Chief Operating Officer of CNIC Health Solutions. She joined the organization in 2001 and established infrastructure, systems, workflows, processes and personnel required to achieve operational status within 75 days. She is currently responsible for claims, customer service, compliance and documents for the organization.

Prior to joining CNIC, Ms. Moore was employed for over 30 years by PacifiCare Health Systems and its predecessor organizations. Ms. Moore managed a staff of 200 and had responsibility for all areas of operations for Commercial HMO, PPO and Medicare products.

Ms. Moore holds the designation of Fellow, Life Management Institute. She is a member of the Society of Professional Benefit Administrators. Her community service includes support of the American Diabetes Association.


Iva Conner
Senior Director of Strategic and Clinical Initiatives

Ms. Conner is Senior Director of Strategic and Clinical Initiatives for CNIC. She joined the organization in 2002 as CNIC's Supervisor, Medical Management Services. Ms. Conner was promoted to Senior Director of Claims, Customer Service and Care Management, and she held that role for nine years. In 2012, Ms. Conner moved into the role of Senior Director of Strategic and Clinical Initiatives. In this role, her primary focus is leading critical clinical, growth and efficiency initiatives for the organization.

Prior to joining CNIC, Ms. Conner was employed for 18 years by Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Company. Prior to moving into managed care, Ms. Conner worked in acute care, with 13 years of experience in the clinical areas of Emergency Room and Intensive Care.

Ms. Conner is a Registered Nurse who attended St. Mary's School of Nursing and Marshall University. Her community service includes past service as a grant reviewer for the Komen Foundation and as a volunteer for the 9Health Fair for the past 10 years.
